On Tuesday, July 26th beginning at 10:00 am, a group of nine faculty and staff will become the first to bring the University-wide We Listen program to the Beaver community. Participants will be learning the ropes of facilitating story listening techniques in their courses, teams, groups and other facets of campus life. They will also get a chance to go hands on and practice the story gathering process, gaining valuable insight into the risks and rewards of sharing tales of diversity with one another through video. Previewing Upcoming Conference Presentation: Designs on eLearning in London
We Listen co-director, Heather Hughes and Penn State Center in Pittsburgh liaison, Nick Smerker have been selected to present at this year's Designs on eLearning conference to be held from September 16-17th. We Listen program co-director, Heather Hughes and Penn State Center liaison, Nick Smerker swung by the People, Places and Spaces event hosted by GTECH Strategies on Pittsburgh's Northside this past week to get an update on the work being done this summer by interns Emily Paskewicz and Jeff Holzer. Leadership Conference Engages We Listen
This week the Penn State Summer Leadership Conference, an annual Student Affairs event, engaged We Listen to provide authentic storytelling and listening workshops for student leaders from across the commonwealth. The three-day conference was held at the Altoona campus and featured a variety of skill development opportunities for students around leadership, citizenship, and networking. The technical skills involved in this program are low - no story is edited and fine filmmaking is not the goal.
